EPA 2023 San Francisco Bay Water Quality Improvement Fund (SFBWQIF) RFA NOW OPEN

Eden Landing

$30 million available; applications due 8/2

The EPA has announced that the 2023 San Francisco Bay Water Quality Improvement Fund (SFBWQIF) RFA (also known as ‘request for applications’) is now OPEN.

This RFA is the EPA's “base program”, distinct from the augmentation of funding that came under BIL (the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) for which a separate RFA is also currently open.

The SFBWQIF FY 2023 “Base” RFA is funding from Congress to protect and restore San Francisco Bay watersheds and wetlands. Proposed projects must be within the nine Bay Area counties that drain to San Francisco Bay.

Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov on or before the submission deadline of August 2nd, 2023 at 9:00pm Pacific Standard Time.

EPA is accepting applications for approximately $30 million in grant funding for the SFBWQIF “Base” program.

There is a 50% match requirement. Many projects funded by the State Coastal Conservancy and/or San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority in the Bay Area are likely to be eligible and could potentially use SCC/SFBRA funding toward the match requirement.

The RFA can be found at the link below on Grants.gov where applications must be submitted with a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number- please register now if you do not already have a UEI.
